Comments from the judges: Framing the local Sami between the antlers serves as a nice metaphor for the importance of the reindeer in Sami culture. The antlers in the photograph also seem to blend seamlessly with the lines of the trees and branches of the woodlands that serve as their home.

Our eyes are drawn along the path to the arch and vertical peaks. The straight lines and edges of the dark, historic buildings are softened by the encroaching foliage, which reveals the lapse of time and links the past to the present.
